HONG KONG....NEW CLUB KITCHEE SC

I am delighted to have signed a one a half year deal with Kitchee SC in Hong Kong. I am looking forward to the challenge and getting started. The club play an attractive style of football and after meeting the directors and owner I was impressed with their ambition, drive and vision for the club. It will be good to play in The AFC CUP again as I really enjoyed the experience of travelling over Asia playing against good sides in 2011. We have games in Vietnam, Singapore and Malaysia all to look forward to.

Thailand was a great experience, The Thai Premier League will continue to go from strength to strength and I would like to thank all the players, staff and officials at Muangthong for a wonderful experience in 2011.

I would like to say a special thank you to all the MTUFC fans, fans of Thai football and the people for all their continued support.

I had some very good offers in other parts of Asia but all my attention and focus now is on Kitchee in East Asia. I want to learn as much as I can from my new coach and help my new team mates on and off the pitch as much as possible.

The Club have shown great faith in me and equally happy to have me in Hong Kong. President Ken Ng said:

The last three games have not gone as we have planned but that happens sometimes in football. We have lost two and won one with a massive game ahead on Sunday against Chonburi at home.Its very very tight in the running for second place and its still in our own hands. This months fixture schedule has been very gruelling with 8 games in just under four weeks but its what every player is in the game for.

We hope to bounce back immediately for the fans on Sunday and give them cause to celebrate a good Christmas. I would like to wish all the fans and happy Xmas and new Year.

we drew 2-2 Away at K'kean in The Thai Premier League. We are still unbeaten under the stewardhsip of Player/Manager Robbie Fowler and playing well as a team.

We need to be more ruthless in the latter stages of games but in the main we are all pulling together in the same direction and have an excellent spirit in the camp. Our next game is at home, it feels like an absolute age since we last played at home but my self and all the players are looking forward to being back out their at The Yammah Stadium.

I would like to personally and behalf of the team/squad say a massive thank you to all the fans that have travelled to the recent away games and especially those who made the 6 hour journey from Bangkok for the game in Konkean yesterday. The support since I have been here has been amazing and it still continues.

On Saturday we returned back to Thai Premier League action with a convincing 2-0 Victory against Police United. Its always pleasing to keep clean sheets and we scored two excellent goals and stuck at the job in a professional manner, It was the 4Th game in just over 12 days so everybody deserves credit for a good attitude and fitness levels. We still have a very congested fixture list for the next few weeks so its important we keep the same confidence, belief and togetherness. We will keep fighting for the title until the last kick of the season.

FA CUP...MTUFC V PATTAYA

Wednesday we emphatically reached the quarter final of The FA Cup with an excellent all round team display in the 6-0 victory against Pattaya United. Some of the attacking play and goals were the best I have seen since I have been at the club. We now switch our attention to The TPL when we face Police United at the weekend.

Yesterday we drew 2-2 away to Bec Tero in The Thai Premier League, to lose a goal in the 95th minute was devastating. We should have won the game but need to cut out the silly costly errors late in games. I was pleased to played the full 90 minutes again. On the positive side we are still unbeaten in the last 4-5 games. We now prepare for an important FA Cup game midweek against Pattaya.
The games are coming thick and fast over this busy period so its important everyone sticks together and is pulling in the same direction. We still have everything to play for and must keep the belief and confidence.

THAI PREMIER LEAGUE...MTUFC V ARMY UNITED FC

Yesterday we drew 1-1 at home to Army United in The Thai Premier League. Its was pleasing to play 90 minutes and get back into the action after the season had temporarily stopped for The Thai National Team to resume their group stage games of World Cup Qualification.

We should have seen the game out comfortably and converted several chances but a dubiously awarded penalty in the latter stages cost us all three points. The season is at the business end now with many games coming thick and fast.

I am delighted to be able announce that my Foundation is now working closely in partnership with English Championship club, Crystal Palace FC. The club very kindly hosted a conference at Selhurst Park last week.

As a football club Palace share similar values to ZRF, which is to use football as a tool for an increase in community cohesion and Social integration. It was a pleasure to be on the top table with Crystal Palace CEO, Phil Alexander. All the staff at The Foundation are looking forward to a long and sustained collaboration together hopefully having a positive effect on thousands of kids and adults along the way. FA CUP RETURN TO ACTION

It was a great feeling to return to action on Wednesday night against Bangkok Glass in The FA Cup at The Yamaha Stadium. The game finished 1-1 after 90 minutes and extra time so therefore it went to penalties. We dispatched all 5 penalties with confidence, winning the tie 5-4 to progress through to the next round. I was pleased to notch the third penalty. As per usual the crowd were fantastic and deserve special credit for coming to support the team despite the flood situation in Bangkok at present, all the players really appreciated their support during this difficult period for people in Thailand.

BACK TO TRAINING

AFC CUP/INJURY UPDATE

Unfortunately I will not be available for tonight's first leg AFC CUP Quarter final in Kuwait, the calf injury is taking longer than expected to recover from. Its very frustrating but part of the game, I am confident in our squad and who ever plays.
Away from club football The Thai National Team, which includes several of my Muang Thong team mates has been performing very well on the international stage.

CALF STRAIN

Unfortunately I will be out for action for a short period with a minor calf strain. Its the first muscle injury of my career to date so its very disappointing. With every setback comes an opportunity to learn so it will allow me to learn more about this injury to prevent it from happening. It means I will miss the first leg of the Toyota League Cup Quarter final away at Chonburi tonight. I would like to wish the team all the and also to fellow centre back Mai who is also recovering from injury at the moment. We have a very good squad so who ever plays I'm sure will do the club and fans proud.

RETURN TO ACTION

Last night I was back in Thai Premier League action against Osotsopa at The Yamaha Stadium.We drew the game 0-0 missing the opportunity to move to second in the table, remaining third in the league. The top three is still wide open with 14 games of the regular season to go. We are still contention for medals on four fronts so its important that we prepare well and support whoever is playing. Unfortunately I suffered a minor calf strain in the game last night, hopefully its not too serious and should not rule me out for too long. Injuries and suspensions are part and parcel of the game, every player wants to play all the time but sometimes its just not possible. Our next fixture is The Toyota Cup quarter final first leg away to Chondburi, it promises to be a great game and a wonderful atmsophere as it was in the League encounter a few months ago.

SUSPENDED FOR BIG GAME

Unfortunately I am suspended for tonight's big game in The TPL against local rivals Bangkok Glass due to picking up my third yellow card the season, I am very disappointed to be missing this game. I'm sure it will be a great atmosphere and I would like to wish all my team mates the best of luck tonight. Hopefully we can get a win and narrow the gap at the top of the table.

SECOND LEG OF SEASON STARTS EMPHATICALLY

Yesterday afternoon we began the second leg of The Thai Premier League in style with a convincing 3-0 away win at local rivals Thai Port. The tight ground and bumper crowd made for an excellent atmosphere with the MTUFC faithful more than playing their part as usual. Unfortunately for me I am suspended for the next game, which is the big game at home to Bangkok Glass. We have a very good squad so whoever plays I'm sure will do well for the team. TOYOTA CUP QUARTER FINALS

We are now through to the last 8 of the League Cup after a 2-2 draw in a replay yesterday afternoon. The game marked Robbie Fowlers debut, he was unlucky not to score with his first touch with a left foot strike rebounding off the post. He got a great reception for the fans, as always they have been brilliant.

Its great news for Thailand and The Thai Premier League that the National team beat Palestine over two legs in second round to reach the group stages of the World Cup Qualifying campaign. Thailand are in a very strong group and will face Australia, Saudi Arabia and Oman home and away during the campaign. Muang Thong United players make up the core of the National team so it will be a very busy schedule for those guys in particular.

Last night I was at the Yamaha stadium to mingle with the fans, whenever the Ultra MTU fans get together there is always a great atmosphere. Before the event I watch The Thailand Under 13s beat their Indonesian counterparts in The ASEAN Cup final. There are some very technically gifted young players who I'm sure will be playing in The Muang Thong first team in a few years time. The future of Thai football is definitely bright. Lots of hard work being done behind the scenes.

Its great news for Muang thong United and Thai football that we have signed former Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler. His goalscoring record and pedigree speaks for itself. It was warming to see him get a wonderful welcome at the game yesterday from the home fans. I'm sure he will prove to be a great asset for us. Yesterday we had a very convincing 9-0 victory in The FA Cup against a second division outfit. It was a very proffessional performance which signalled the end of the first Leg of the season. We are currently 2nd in the League, In The AFC Cup quarter finals and still in both domestic cups so the second leg will be very interetsing.

SHOCKING PITCH FOR AN INTERNATIONAL

Unfortunately Pakistan lost the first leg of The World Cup Qualifiers away to Bangladesh, we were undone by a totally unplayable water logged and flooded pitch. Anywhere else in the world this game would have been cancelled. An official complaint has been lodged to FIFA by the PFF. The only way South Asian football will improve is if the standards are raised in all departments including the playing surfaces. As a Country Bangladesh were clearly used to those playing conditions as many of their league games are played im similar circumstances. My focus now switches back to my club duty. I am happy to be back Muangthong after that last experience!

Last weekend marked the beginning of The Toyota Cup campaign, we were away to second division side Singburi Fc. We won the game convincingly 5-0 with a very professional performance. These games can be a banana skin if your approach is wrong but we are safely through to the next round. Its always pleasing to keep a clean sheet regardless of the opposition.

The recent busy fixture schedule continued with games against Police United and Pataya Fc, we continued our excellent form with back to back wins, 3-1 and 2-0, scoring 5 goals and only conceding one. TPL BIG GAME

Satur-day was a big game in The Thai Premier League, we faced local rivals Chonburi away from home. The game was beamed live to millions through out Thailand and had huge media coverage here. We drew 1-1 with a great chance late on to take all three points. We still have a few games in hand of the teams in front of us so its all very tight and all to play for in the second leg of the season. After our midweek exploits in The AFC CUP we were back in TPL action at home to Khonkaen FC. We won 1-0 but had several opportunities to add to that scoreline. Three points is points and again it was pleasing to keep yet another clean sheet. We now have a day rest before preparation begins for next weeks big game at Chonburie Fc. (right: close to my man)

AFC CUP QUARTER FINALS

Last night we romped home in a convincing 4-0 Victory over Lebanese Champions Al Ahhed FC in the knock out stages of the AFC CUP. It was great to play my part in another clean and as per usual the home support electric. AFC CUP LAST 16

After a convincing 4-0 Home win over Tampinese Rovers of Singapore in the last group stage game of the AFC CUP we are through to the last 16 and knock out stages. AFC CUP VENTURE CONTINUES

The last few weeks has involved trips to the Maldives and Vietnam for Group stage games of The AfC CUP. We won convincingly in Male 4-0 and drew 0-0 away to Hannoi ealier this week. I was pleased to be voted Muang Thong United fans Match Of The March award for the game in Hannoi, the minority of fans that travelled were excellent as always. I am now back in Thailand after this last game of The AFC Challenge Cup against India in Malaysia. We were drawing 1-1until the last 4 minutes of the game when we got done by silly errors and a breakaway goal. The team is very young but showed a great attitude, I come back with hope and optimism for the future if the right structures are put in place. There is very little between South Asian Countries, once Pakistan get the basics right im sure the day will come when we qualify for an Asian Games. The next International fixtures are in October for The World Cup Qualifiers.

INTERNATIONAL RETURN

It was a great feeling to represent Pakistan again after a three year absence from the National Team. My first game back was against Turkmeistan. The team has changed considerably since the last time I played with many new young players. The National team still has plenty to work on but its great to be back in amongst it and too see the hunger and desire is their to do better. We unfortunately lost the game today but on a positive note we play again on Wednesday against India. I will have a day to spend with the newer players to get to know them and help the young ones as much as possible.

Its a huge honour to be called up to Play International football again, my last game was in Syria in 2008 in the goaless draw against Iraq in The World Cup Qualifiers. The three International games will take place in Malaysia in a few weeks time. Pakistan will be facing arch rivals India, Turkmenistan and Chinese Taipei in The AFC Challenge Cup. HOME DEBUT...AFC CUP

Last night I made my home Debut for Muang Thong United in The Yamaha Stadium, we won 4-0 against Hanoi of Vietnam in the opening game of the AFC Cup group stage. I was pleased to play the majority of the game but disappointed to have to come off due to a minor head wound. The atmosphere generated by the fans was electric and it was a pleasure playing in front of the home crowd for the first time since signing. Attention now switches to The TPL this weekend.

Saturday marked the opening of The Thai Premier League Campaign for Muangthong United, we drew 0-0 away to Bangkok Glass which was a good result considering the team had never won or drawn there in the past. There was an excellent atmosphere at The Leo Stadium, overall I think a draw was a fair result, its always good to keep a clean sheet, even more so away from home.

I am pleased to say that The Zesh Rehman Foundation is continuing to flourish in The UK and is helping to impact numerous young lives in a positive way. The Foundation has received some excellent coverage and write ups recently. Following on from the successful pilot project we have now expanded from Bradford into the Manchester area, linked up with Kick It out and continue to take school kids to live football matches, the most recent being over 200 kids going to watch Bradford against Wycombe at Valley Parade.

The PFA continue to show excellent support and did a big double page profile spread in The Community Magazine this month. Footy Matter website also did a very good feature. CHAMPIONS LEAGUE PLAY OFF

Last week I was in Indonesia for The Asian Champions League Play Off game against Sriwijaya FC. The game was played in the scorching heat at 330 pm in front of a bumber crowd. The game finished 2-2 after extra time. We unfortunately lost the game 8-7 on penalities. It was a hugely dissapointing day for everyone at the Club to get so close and crash out. We need to dust ourselves down and be ready The Thai Premier League Kick Off.

This weekend The Zesh Rehman Foundation will link up with Kick It Out in Bradford to help gives kids an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful game as well as spreading the anti racism message. MUANG THONG DEBUT...CHARITY SHIELD FINAL

Yesterday afternoon at the National Stadium in Thailand marked another milestone for me. It was a wonderful experience to make my full debut for Muang Thong United in The Charity Shield Final and become the first Pakistani International to play proffessional football in both Thailand as well as The Uk. We narrowly lost the game 2-1, the support for both sides was fantastic and both sets of fans played their part in a tremendous atmoshpere. I played the full game so it was good to get another step closer to full fitness and adapt to the climate oUT here. We now have two weeks before we play in The Asian Champions League Qualifier games against teams from Malaysia and Dubai respectively.

PHUKET TRAINING CAMP

The whole squad is on the lovely Island of Phuket for a training camp. We play a friendly in midweek against Muang Thongs partner club Phuket Fc. The aim of the camp is to take the fitness to the next level and prepare for the Charity Shield game in a weeks time at the National Stadium in Thailand. It will be a good week for all the new signings to gel with the rest of the squad.

I have loved my first full week of pre season this week, the training has been very progressive and I have enjoyed it. It has taken about a week or so to adjust to the heat! Getting on very well with all my new team mates and coaches and looking forward to the first friendly this saturday. Next week il be away for a pre season training camp in Phuket. So far settling into a new country has been very exciting. I have tried to embrace the local culture as much as possible which I think is important.

I have signed for Thai Premier League Champions Muangthong United after 10 seasons of Proffessional football in the UK. Having been fortunate enough to have of sampled all four leagues in the UK it was time for a new challenge. The Club has an extremely professional set up, excellent training facilities, 25000 seater stadium and very passionate fans. Muangthong have had four years of success under the careful guidance of General Manager Ronnarit Suewaja winning back to back Premier League titles. It will be a good feeling to be part of creating footballing history again. I am looking forward to a new league, new style of football and a new culture which will help me progress as a person and player. I will continue to work closely with The PFA Management Committee and my Foundation which will be looking to have an overseas launch in the next six months.
Finally after 70+ appearances in all competitions for Bradford, very fond memories and the distinguished Honour of being the Bantams First Asian Captain in their 107 year history it was time to move on. I would like to thank the Chairmen, Directors, Players, Management Staff and Fans. I would like to wish the Club the very best for the remainder of the season. 10 DOWNING STREET TO MEET THE PRIME MINISTER

It was a distinguished moment as Club Captain to recieve a personal invitation to meet The Prime Minister Mr David Cameron at Number 10 Downing Street.

Its an incredible honour for the Club and the City of Bradford to have achieved positive recognition on such a national scale.

Being one of only two British Asians plying my trade in the Proffessional game I was happy to speak to both David Cameron and Nick Clegg about my career and some of the racial hurdles and barriers I have overcome to make the grade. The PM also commented on monitoring my progress for a number of years and remembered me from my Premiership and Championship days with Fulham and QPR.

He seemed a little mystified as to why why I have been in and out of the side despite leading the team to good results and performances. They were both also very supportive of the Zesh Rehman Foundation and believe it will achieve its aims of bridging the cultural gap in our society through the power of football.

Off The pitch its been frustrating being on the bench the last few games, my last ten starts in the league, 5 this season and 5 from the end of the last campaign we have won 7, drawn 2 and only lost 1 keeping 7 clean sheets and only conceeding 3 along the way.

As PFA Delegate and a member of the Management Committee I was present at the PFA Annual General Meeting at the Midland Hotel in Manchester yesterday afternoon. All the clubs delegates were present to collate all the newest information needed to portray back to the players at their clubs. As a Union the PFA has continued to go from strength to strength and offers all of the players advice and support in every aspect of their professional and personal lives to ensure it is a success. Gordon Taylor and his staff deserve huge credit for making the lives of the players easier by being there as a valuable resource and more. I would like to congratulate Clark Carlisle as the new PFA Chairman, he is a very worthy successor to former Chairman Chris Powell.

Yesterday was a very frustrating afternoon at Wycombe, we lost 1-0 in the last few minutes of the game to a controversial winner. The referee allowed play to go on despite the opposition physio being on the pitch at the time and the linesman waving his flag. It was the first league goal conceeded in my five league starts this season. We are currently four points off the play offs so have every reason to be positive with two home games coming up back to back.

Last night was another excellent team performance away to Bury. To win the game 1-0 and hold out for the clean sheet was very pleasing. We defended well as a team and worked for each other all over the pitch. The next league game cannot come quickly enough for the lads. CHELTENHAM HOME GAME

Yesterday was a very good home win over Cheltenham. I was gutted not to be apart of it after captaining the team to victory over Barnet last weekend but I have always said its a team game and not about individuals. The manager knows when he needs me I am ready and confident I will put in a good shift for the team regardless of what position I am asked to play. Hopefully we can go on a good run and keep the winning feeling going next week at Burton.

Saturday was a great away win at Barnet. It has been a frustrating few weeks for all connected with the club so to get an away win and clean sheet was exactly what we needed to hopefully kick start our season. Last night we played against League One Hartlepool away in The Johnstone's Paint Trophy and lost to a single goal. I was pleased to lead the team and play the full 90 minutes at right back. It was a decent performance and one which we can hopefully build on Saturday away to Barnet FC. This afternoon marked the start of the Zesh Rehman Foundation Pilot Project at Hill Top Primary School in Bradford. 20 lucky pupils will take place in a ten week programme including practical and theory workshops to improve their knowledge of the game and educate them on the good habits needed in football, sport and life. They will also visit Valley Parade to meet the behind the scenes team of Kit Man, Groundsman, Physio etc. They will also get to watch a live game at Bradford which will hopefully inspire them to keep coming to the games. It was great to lead the team out as Captain against Preston in the second round home tie. Preston played a full strength side and narrowly won the game 2-1 in injury time. CARLING CUP FIRST ROUND

Tuesday nights 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest was a great way to start season at home. Every body put in an incredible shift to beat a very good Championship side and set up another home tie against Championship opposition in Preston North End. I was pleased to lead the team and enjoyed the atmosphere. We carried on the momentum from Tuesday night with a hard fought 1-0 victory on saturday against league
new comers Stevenage Borough. I did not start the game which was dissapointing but again was delighted to take over the armband for the last half hour and hang on for a clean sheet. We have a good squad this season with quality and depth which is great for competition for places. At the end of the day its not about individuals its a team game.

Pre-Season is progressing well, the games have been coming thick and fast, We have had 6 games so far which I have managed to get several 45 minutes and a 90 minute under the belt. This stage of pre-season is about building up the fitness levels and getting a decent base level fitness for when the season kicks off in a few weeks time. Today was the first day back at training, it was great to be back out there on the grass again. The squad looked in good shape, we have a few new players but the majority of the players who signed extended contracts were here last season so hopefully that will help the spirit and togetherness.

The season finished today with a good away win against Crewe 1-0. As per usual the support was fantastic.

It has been a very eventful season on and off the pitch. I have played 42 games and scored 3 goals. It has been a superb learning experience in terms of being Club Captain. I played the majority of games at centre back and the occassional game at right back and in central midfield. Off the Pitch it was pleasing to be named PFA Player In The Community at the Football League Awards and to have recently launched my Foundation. I have enjoyed woking with both Stuart McCall and Peter Taylor this season. The next step now is to come back for pre season training in July in good shape.

It was a very emotional day for all concerned at Bradford City Fc on saturday, it was the 25th Anniversary of the Bradford fire. Football focus was beamed live around the country from Valley Parade and covered the the story in depth. It was nice to have have a little mention on the programme which covered the story of Asian Involvement at the club with interviews with myself, Lut Rahman, First Asian Associate director (www.adworxprinting.com) and Saj Hussain, Sponsor (Adams wholesale and distributions). Bradford is very much a community based club with the doors fully open to all. It was superb to finish off with a two nil victory over Play off hopefuls Northampton Town in front of the biggest crowd of the season. 50th BRADFORD CITY GAME

Tusday night's 0-0 draw against high flying automatic promotion favourites Notts County was my 50th game for Bradford City in all competitions since initially arriving on loan last february. I have been fortunate enough to have had the honour of leading the team out as skipper on 25 of those occassions this season. As part of the PFA Management Committee I was invited by Gordon Taylor to the meeting today to discuss goings on at The Professional Footballers Association. The Committee Team is lead by Chris Powell. The role of the committee is to liaise with the chief executive to give direction in fulfilling the objectives of the organisation. It's a huge honour to be on that team of 12 Professional players from across the football league. Unfortunately I was unable to attend as I had to play a reserve game at the request of the manager as I had missed a week of training. Hopefully I will be able to attend the next meeting. I have payed 32 games in all competitions so far this season and feel ready to step back into the first team action as soon as the manager feels the time is right.

I have missed the last two games due to a minor calf problem. As a player the best place to be is out there training on a regular basis and playing on a saturday. This weekends game against Rotherham will be too soon as I have only had two days training under my belt. We have plenty of new signings who will bolster the squad and add to competition for places in all deprtments. This is something that excites me and I look forward to the challenges that my come up from now until the end of the season. Hopefully we can have a strong finish to he season for the new Gaffa and for the fans.

Peter Taylor is now the new manager of Bradford City. He has a proven track record at this level and is a very experienced manager who has managed at all levels of the game. I am looking forward to working with him and learning and improving as a player and as a team. We had a great result against league leaders Rochdale the other night. The work ethic and team spirit/togetherness was very evident as we showed earlier in the season.We have proved this season that as a squad we are more than capable of matching any in the division on the day, hopefully we can find that conistency that will help us to clmb the table.

Yesterday afternoon I was at Low Ash Primary school to meet the kids who helped to raise over £4000 for Bradford Citys Community Department. The kids did really well to gain as much sponsorship as they did. They were rewarded with trophies, medals and a football each to thank them for their appreciation.
